Brooke Cerny (she/her) is an artist and educator originally from the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York. She earned her BA in Visual Arts from Eckerd College in 2016, followed by a year of mentorship with ceramicist Brian Ransom. Brooke spent three years living and teaching in Spain, where she studied traditional Spanish ceramic and tile painting techniques under Julio Gordillo.
In 2022, she moved to the Canary Islands to serve as Residency Coordinator for Casa Tagumerche, an international artist residency program. Most recently, she worked as the Ceramics Studio Manager at Kirkland Arts Center in Seattle, Washington.
Brooke’s work has been exhibited nationally in galleries including Mini Mart City Park (Seattle, WA), The Clay Center of New Orleans (New Orleans, LA), The ArtsKC Gallery (Kansas City, MO), and Salem on the Edge Gallery (Salem, OR). She has also participated in residencies at Saratoga Clay Arts Center and Salem Art Works.

Brooke Cerny’s work explores the intricate relationships between people, place, and memory. She approaches making as a form of contemplation and reverence, intuitively creating ceramic vessels and interactive installations. Informed by personal and environmental histories, Brooke’s work echoes landscapes and bodies of water held in her memories. Themes of reflection, interconnectedness, ecology, and wonder guide her creative practice.
